Terms & Conditions
Due to the constraint of the design of the Trike, unfortunately a maximum weight per passenger has to be no more than 19 Stone/ 266 Ibs/121 kgs. All passengers must be 130cm/4ft 3in or taller in height and be able to reach the passenger foot rest with their feet whilst sitting on the seat with the lap belt in position.
Booking and payment
By placing a booking with us, you are confirming you have read, understood and agreed to abide by the following published Terms and Conditions. Please ensure you understand them fully prior to placing a booking with us.
On booking a tour, subject to availability, you are committed to paying the following;
- For tours over £240 we will require a 50% deposit at the time of booking - the balance to be paid no less than 30 days before the tour date. If the balance payment is not received by this date Orkney Trike Tours reserves the right to cancel your booking
- For tours booked within 3 months of your tour date we would require full payment at the time of booking.
- If you wish to re-schedule a service, we require a minimum of 14 days’ notice. There is no charge for this subject to availability.
- Prices are subject to change without notice.
Payment can be made via BACs transfer or Cash.
We accept Paypal and all major Debit and Credit Cards.
Cancellation and Refunds
Please note that once the service commences, the customer is committed, whatever weather conditions prevail during the hire.
Cancellation - All cancellations will incur a bank administration fee.
- 60 days before tour date 100 % refund.
- 42 days before tour date 50 % refund.
- 30 days before tour date 0 % refund.
Exceptions
For cruise ship bookings
- If a cruise liner is cancelled or delayed due to inclement weather we will endeavour to rebook your tour at a later time or date, subject to availability and not normally more than 12 months from cancelation. If this is not possible we will return your payment less 25% booking fee.
- You are advised to take out travel insurance to cover any cancellation fees. If you require any documentation to make any claims, please contact me and we will be only too happy to help. All refunds will be £ sterling and any fluctuation in exchange rates will not be our responsibility.
- If adverse weather affects your journey to Orkney and therefore you cannot make your tour, then you will need to contact your Travel Insurance provider.
Inclement weather.
If it is raining, Orkney Trike Tours will still go ahead with the tour or an alternative tour may be offered. Waterproofs will be provided for passengers. If the rain is very heavy and you would prefer not to ride we can re-schedule your ride to a date convenient for you (subject to availability). If you have a tight itinerary and cannot re-schedule we will issue you with a gift voucher valid for 12 months.
- Weddings are a very special occasion and as such, different cancellation rules will apply. Should you decide on the day not to use the service due to poor weather conditions we will refund your payment less a 25% cancellation fee.
- Every effort will be made by us to make your experience an enjoyable one, however we are unable to offer a refund once the service has commenced.
- In the event that you are not satisfied with our service any complaints should be addressed in the first instance to: info@Orkneytriketours.co.uk or in writing to Orkney Trike Tours 1 Sands Park, Deerness, Kirkwall, Orkney, KW17 2QW. We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and undertake to respond to it promptly .
- Cancellation by Orkney Trike Tours, there will be a 100 % refund if an alternative tour cannot be arranged for the customer. That will be the maximum of Orkney Trike Tours liability.
Safety

All passengers must be 130cm/4ft 3in or taller in height and be able to reach the passenger foot res with their feet whilst sitting on the seat with the lap belt in position.
- Prior to each tour commencing, a full safety briefing will be given to every passenger. The driver will also do a risk assessment to ensure the passengers can be safely taken on the tour.
- We recommend that all passengers wear long trousers and enclosed shoes.
- Orkney Trike Tours will provide waterproof clothing, helmets, eye protection and gloves.
- Note: Helmets are not required by law when travelling on a trike. However our Insurance and Orkney Island Council stipulate helmets and seat belts are to be worn at all times.
- Passengers undertake an Orkney Trike Tours service at their own risk. It is the customer’s responsibility to observe, at all times, the safety instructions given in the safety briefing prior to getting on the Trike. Orkney Trike Tours takes the utmost care with our passengers but will take no responsibility for any injury suffered because the passengers did not follow these safety instructions.
- Orkney Trike Tours reserves the right to refuse a service to any persons who is not dressed appropriately, is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, who cause a nuisance, conduct themselves in an offensive or disorderly manner or threaten, in any way, their’s or the safety of others or whom we decide is not suitable for the tour. No monies will be refunded if Orkney Trike Tours exercise their right to refuse service due to the aforementioned behaviours.
Additional Conditions
- Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult if under the age of 16. Minimum age is 10 years and a must be over 130cm (4ft 3ins) in height.
- If you arrive late the service will still finish at the pre-arranged time so as to not inconvenience customers booked after you. No refund will be given if you fail to turn up at the agreed time and place of pickup.
- Luggage space is very limited in our vehicles. Passengers are limited to one small bag each.
- Service charges are not included in the fares – gratuities for the driver are at the customer’s discretion.
- Orkney Trike Tours reserves the right to use any photos taken by our drivers of our passengers in promotional material advertising our services.
- Our vehicles are insured for passenger and third party claims, as required under Scottish law. However, whilst every care is always taken, customers’ personal property is carried entirely at their own risk and no responsibility can be accepted for loss or damage thereto. Customers are therefore advised to ensure that they carry adequate and relevant travel insurance.
- Many of the structures we visit are old and are not maintained. Entering sites and structures is at your own risk. Orkney Trike Tours will not cover any liability arising from persons entering such sites and structures.
- We will not be held responsible for financial or personal loss to our passengers in the event of mechanical failures and/or events beyond our control, technical problems with transport including changes due to rescheduling of routes or alteration of the vehicle or vehicle type for reasons beyond our control, including hurricanes or other actual or potential severe weather conditions (whether materialised or not), and any other similar events.
- Any form of anti-social behaviour towards the driver or any member of staff of Orkney Trike Tours will not be tolerated, and may result in the termination of hire an/or Police involvement. Termination of hire caused by anti-social behaviour will render the hirer liable for the full hire charge. Any persons carrying out acts of vandalism or malicious damage to the vehicle will be prosecuted.
- You are responsible for any damage you may cause to the vehicle on hire to you and you will be billed accordingly for any repair or valeting required in order to reinstate the vehicle to good working order.
- We reserve the right to alter or amend these terms and conditions at any time.
